A little about the origin:
For many people, Camembert is the quintessential French cheese. Before 1983 when it received its AOC-impression, it was the most imitated cheese in the world. Now it is produced only in Normandy by a precisely defined production method. It has a very fine rind covered in white mold. According to legend, Camembert was invented during the French revolution. Napoleon was the greatest lover of camembert and it was served in his court. In 1880, an engineer named Ridel had the idea to pack it into a thin wooden box, which eventually led to it being exported long distances.

In The Kitchen:
Camembert is well suited not only for serving sliced with bread, but it can be part of a cheese platter after a meal. It is great on sandwiches, on burgers and eaten with fresh fruit. A great way to eat Camembert is to bake it in its box in a hot oven and dip fresh bread into the molten cheese. Storage: Should be stored in the fridge, alone or with cheeses of similar type, wrapped in grease-proof paper and placed in an airtight container.
