Swiss Gruyere Cheese, 150g

Description

Diced, sliced, shredded or just as is. Gruyère is aromatic and slightly salty. It is creamy & nutty when young, becoming with age more earthy and complex. When fully aged it tends to have small holes and cracks which impart a slightly grainy feel.

A little about the origin:
Gruyere is a hard yellow cheese, named after the town of Gruyères in Switzerland, and originated in the cantons of Fribourg, Vaud, Neuchâtel, Jura, and Berne. The production in this region was established in the year 1155 and has since then been a national favourite.

In The Kitchen:
Use: Because of its excellent melting qualities, Gruyere is used in soufflés, sauces and cheese fondue. It is great on cheeseboards, on sandwiches or eaten with fresh crusty bread.
Storage: Should be stored in the fridge, alone or with cheeses of similar type, wrapped in grease-proof paper and placed in an airtight container.
