Description

Great for cooking, snacking and cheeseboards. Emmental has a fine, slightly nutty, almost saltless flavour.

Type: Semi Hard

Emmental's home is the valley of the Emme River in the canton of Bern. Emmental is famous for its holes and its nutty flavour. Its curd is light yellow, mild and supple. The rind is firm, dry and yellow-brown.

In The Kitchen:

Use: Emmental has great melting qualities and is hence used in fondues, soufflés, potato bakes, as a pizza topping and in white cheese sauces. It is great on burgers, on hot and cold sandwiches, cubed for snacking or added to cheese boards.
Storage: Should be stored in the fridge, alone or with cheeses of similar type, wrapped in grease-proof paper and placed in an airtight container.
