A little about the origin:
Gorgonzola is produced in Lombardy and Piedmont in Italy. The cheese obtained its name from a small village north of Milan where the cheese was prepared 1,000 years ago! Gorgonzola's rind is rough and slightly reddish, the cheese itself if straw-coloured and striped with veins of mold.

In The Kitchen :
Gorgonzola is fantastic as it is, served with crackers or fresh crusty bread. It is also perfect stirred into fettuccine, made into a sauce and served with a seared steak or added to salads. Try serving it with walnuts and drizzled with honey. This famous cheese simply can not be omitted when composing an Italian cheese platter.
Storage: Can be kept for several days when wrapped well and placed in an airtight container.
